Using fancy yarn & ribbons

Using fancy yarns, ribbons and woving will add interesting movement and texture to your finished piece. In contemporary weaving, the use of unexpected fibres has become very popular in recent years, and the results achieved have been surprising to say the least. In the blue & moon weaving project, you will see that there are a few slightly different fibres to add, and here we deal with the recycled silk yarn — some of which has been used just for regular tabby weaving and some for loops. Try not to work with an overly long strip of fabric — in preference use shorter lengths to do individual rows.

In this demonstration I have gone under one warp thread and over two — you can vary this of course, but unless you have a coloured warp thread, my preference is to hide the white, cotton warp as much as possible.
